Important Information for International Customers:
Potential Import Duties
Due to ongoing developments to international trade regulations, international customers may be required to pay import duties and/or VAT/GST when importing from the UK. We have partnered with DHL to offer a seamless process for customers, in which all taxes (VAT/GST) and duties (tariffs) are taken care of, and are included in the cost of shipping. At check-out, most customers will see 2 options - one for duties/taxes covered, shipped with DHL; the other with duties/taxes not included, shipped with Royal Mail. If you can only see the second option, and would like a quote for delivery with duties/taxes covered, please email us at support@ameliajayneart.com.
Will I Have to Pay Import Duty/Taxes on My Order?
Whether you’ll have to pay import duty depends on several factors, including:
The value of your order
The specific country you’re ordering from
The type of goods being shipped
Typically, orders above a certain value threshold will be subject to import duty, VAT, or other handling fees as per your country’s customs regulations.
If, however, you select a ‘Duties & Taxes Covered’ or ‘No Tariff Fees’ option at check-out, you do not need to worry about this. This only applies to shipping options with ‘Duties/Taxes May Apply’ in the title. If you cannot see an option with duties/taxes covered, and would like a quote, please email us at support@ameliajayneart.com.
How Can I Find Out How Much I Need to Pay?
If you choose a ‘Duties/Taxes May Apply’ shipping option, to find out if your order will be subject to additional charges, and to estimate how much these charges might be, we recommend checking with your local customs office. You can also use online resources to calculate potential duties. Below are some helpful links:
Duty Calculator - please use HS Code 4911.99.00 for prints; 9701.9100 for pieces of original art.
Your country’s customs authority website (e.g., HM Revenue & Customs in the UK)
Typically, customers will have to pay their standard VAT/GST rate (e.g. Germany 20%, France 20% etc.) and any tariffs applicable on goods from the UK. However, this can vary depending on the type of good being imported (e.g. print vs painting).
What Happens If Import Duties/Taxes Apply to My Order?
If your order is subject to import duties/taxes and you choose a ‘Duties/Taxes May Apply’ shipping option, you will be contacted by your local customs office once your goods arrive in your country. They will provide details on the additional charges and how to make payment. Please note that any delays due to customs processing are beyond our control.
Update March 2026: USA Orders
Following the Supreme Court’s ruling in February 2026 that the IEEPA-based tariffs were unconstitutional, President Trump imposed a 10% global tariff on 24th February. All of our orders to the US are currently handled by DHL with tariff fees included. This means no customers will have to pay anything more than the price they see at checkout.
Please note that this situation is fast-moving, and has presented many logistical challenges along our supply chains. We appreciate your patience with this matter.
